The Greek word azumos

Found nine times in the New Testament (Mt. 26:17; Mk. 14:1; 14:12; Lk. 22:21, 7; Acts 12:3; 20:6; 1 Cor. 5:7, 8), the Greek adjective azumos meant “unleavened” or “free from yeast/leaven.” This word describes the “feast of unleavened bread” in Mt. 26:17-Acts 20:26. The word is associated with Christianity in 1 Cor. 5:7-8. For a discussion on these latter two verses, see this author’s commentary on First Corinthians Five which can be downloaded for free.
