The Greek word “biazo”

Found just once in the New Testament (Acts 2:2), the Greek adjective “biaios” meant “mighty” or “violent.” Luke used this term to describe the “sound” associated with the coming of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost described in Acts 2. “The coming of the Spirit with a loud noise is compared to a violent gale” (Exegetical Dictionary of the New Testament, 1:217).
